January 2, 2020 Campo Grande to Coyhaique 58Km pedaled  Ride Time: 11:30 Pedal Time: 3:59 Tour Total Pedaled 559.36Km I slept pretty well along the side of the road on Route 7, about 5km south of Campo Grande. I heard some cows mooing throughout the night as well as the ripple of a nearby stream.  I woke up at 7:30am as my tent began to warm from the sun. I began the usual drying of the equipment. I had been unable to pound stakes into the gravel the night before, so my fly wasn’t properly stretched. Beads of condensation were dripping on me in the early morning. Scott made cream of wheat which tasted like wallpaper paste, so I added some raisins.  Scott worked on his rear wheel. He blew out his second spare inner tube, so I gave him one of my spares. Carretera Austral Forced Off Day Puerto Rio Tranquilo

January 6, 2020 Puerto Rio Tranquilo Forced off day due to mechanical problems  Tour Total Pedaled 784.36km I slept great in my bed in the cabaña at Cabanas Paraiso. My clothing and equipment was dry in the morning. I got up at 7:30am, and woke Scott at 8. His laundry was still wet, so he created a drying rack above the gas stove while I went into town for breakfast.  The town uses thick pieces of rope stretched across the highway as speed bumps. It was cold out today.  Most of the businesses were still closed, but I managed to find a cafe where I ordered scrambled eggs with toast and butter, and two machine made cappuccinos. Scott took forever, so I used the time to edit and publish old posts. I then went back to the hamburger place which, although closed, had excellent WiFi from out on the front porch.  There were a lot of backpackers and hitchhikers here. Carretera Austral Day #15 Villa O’Higgins to El Chaltén, Argentina

January 13, 2020 Villa O’Higgins to El Chaltén, Argentina 62.8 km Ride Time: 13:15 Pedal Time: 6:27 Tour Total Pedaled 1226.47 km I slept reasonably well in my tent last night at Mosco hostel and campground. The four beers I had before bed meant that I had to get up twice during the night. It was cold out and the moon was almost full. My alarm went off at 6am. Our aim was to be on the road by 7am. My tent was wet, so I hung the fly on the laundry line. My breakfast consisted of Frosted Flakes with bananas and a hard boiled egg. It was partly cloudy with nice light. Yesterday’s sunset had produced amazing colors.  We left the hostel at 7:30am and rode out of town. We crossed the Rio Mayer on the Puente Augusto Grossei, another kit construction suspension bridge similar to the one we crossed on our entrance to Villa O’ Higgins. The road was 7km of ripio and we arrived at the ferry at 8am. We had been told to be there by 8:15am and that the boat would be leaving at 8:30...
